High-quality Japanese powdered green tea from tea plantations in Uji. This matcha has been ground using stone mills like in old days. This matcha is "usucha" and in the Japanese tea tradition ("tea ceremonies") used to prepare "thin tea". Producer Marukyu Koyamen is one of the world's best matcha producers. All Tea Shop Veiström's matchas are always fresh, directly from Japan and always freezer-stored as they should. Each matcha has its unique taste and the best way to get acquainted with them is to taste. Only best-quality Japanese tea plant leaves that have been grown under the shade (gyokuro) are used to make Tea Shop Veiström's matcha teas. First the picked leaves are processed to Tencha that is used to grind the matcha. One of the big differenses comparing to brewed tea with matcha is that the whole tea leaf is drunk and not just the infusion from the tea leaves. The amount of theine (caffeine in the tea) is a lot of higher in matcha than in more commonly drunk green tea - in Tea Shop Veiström's matcha teas 3,2 g/100 g. The high-quality of Tea Shop Veiström's matcha teas is based on freshness and right storing. Just as we do, so should our customers keep their matchas in a freezer. Powdered tea does not freeze but heat and oxygen will spoil it really fast.
