clay

Traditional Gongfu tea pot made of clay with a volume of approximately 1,1 dl. This is the material whose features bring a great taste to the tea.

In a Gongfu pot, one cup or two cups of tea is traditionally and the same leaves are brewed several times. The porous clay brings out the tea's aroma. In unglazed teapots, it is customary to make only one type of tea. The clay absorbs the flavor from the tea. In time, the tea will get tastier and tastier.

If you use several types of tea in the same clay teapot you will end up with “a cacophony of flavours”. You should never use nothing but warm water to rinse the teapot to clean it. So no dishwashing liquids, please.
